Eligibility Requirements for Tennessee Unemployment Benefits

In order to receive Tennessee Unemployment Benefits, you must:

1)      Be totally or partially unemployed through no fault of your own and be approved for benefits;

Applying for Tennessee Unemployment Benefits

To requests Tennessee Unemployment Benefits you may file a Tennessee Unemployment Benefit Claim Online at www.tennesseeanytime.org/labor/  if none of the following apply:

·        You did not work in Tennessee in the last 18 months;

·        You worked in another state or worked for a Tennessee employer with an out-of-state payroll address;

·        You have had Federal civilian employment in the last 18 months;

·        You have had active duty in the military in the last 18 months; or

·        You are on leave of absence or suspension from your last employer.

Otherwise, you may file by telephone.  In the Nashville area, you may call 615-253-0800.  Outside of the Nashville area, you may call 1-877-813-0950.  To file a claim from out of state, call 1-800-262-8094.

You may apply Tennessee Unemployment benefits, online or by phone, Sunday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 12 midnight.

When applying for Tennessee Unemployment benefits, you must provide your:

·        Social Security Number ;

·        Drivers License Number;

·        Address;

·        Telephone Number;

·        Separating Employer’s Name;

·        Separating Employer’s Address;

·        Separating Employer’s Telephone Number;

·        Separating Employer’s Fax Number (if known);

·        Last Day Worked;

·        Reason for Separation; and

·        Last 18 months of Employment.

Receiving Tennessee Unemployment Benefits

The Weekly Benefit Amount of your Tennessee Unemployment Benefits claim is determined by your gross wages received from all covered employers in the highest quarter of your base period.  Most workers are eligible to receive a maximum of 26 weeks of Tennessee Unemployment Benefits.  However, this can be extended by law.  To continue receiving Tennessee Unemployment benefits, you must file a weekly certification.
